Jone Olson (Jon Olavsson) Foss was born about 1540, and was the son of Ola Jonson Tøtland and Siri Oddsdatter Fevoll. [1] He was the farmer at Tøtland before returning to Foss about 1608.[2]
His first wife was Birgitte Tollaksdotter Aukland.[2] Their eight children were:
Utbjørg, lived at Fuglestein at Jelsa, was married to Ola Knutson[2]
Kristi, lived at Atletveit at Sjernarøy, married to Ola Reiarson[2]
His second wife was Margrete Ingebretsdotter.[2] Their two children were:
Siri, lived at Sukka in Suldal, was married to Lars Aslakson[2]
Odd, lived at Hjelmervik at Skånevik, married to Herborg Ivarsdatter[2]
In 1591 he was one of the representatives from Hjelmeland at the hailing of the new king in Oslo.[3]
He is recorded as the farmer at Foss 1610-1622; his widow Margrete is listed as the farmer at Foss 1623-1627. She and her children and stepchildren owned about ten laups of butter's worth across 14 farms in 1624.[2]

Olsen-1583 and Foss-594 appear to represent the same person because: They were both originally imported GEDCOM files. I have cleaned and sourced Olsen-1583, but Foss-594 is the profile with the correct LNAB instead of the patronymic. Olsen-1583 has no set birthdate but I have seen 1540 mentioned without having a source for it, and 1622/1623 as death dates are not in conflict, as he was the farmer listed in 1622 but his widow was in 1623. Their relatives are also the same (and several of them need merging) and I can add sources for them, too.
