Origin unknown.
Jacob Olsen is recoded as of Knaplund at his 1st wedding, and Kapstøen when he marries his 2nd wife, Karen, who is from Seivåg (Kapstøa is a farm just below Knaplund at Saltstraumen). With the marriage to his second wife, Jacob acquires land at Seivåg from her first husband. At the priest's census of 1749, a Jacob Olsen is recorded in Seivåg living with his wife Karen Jørensdatter, and her three children from her first marriage.[1]
Married #1 on 15 Jul 1745 to Valborg Pedersdatter from Bakksund, Ner-Knaplund (1718 - 1747).[2] No known children.
Married #2 on 24 Nov 1747 to the widow Karen Jørgensdatter Braad.[3] Children:
Jacob Olsen Seivåg died on 4 Aug 1782, age 72.[5]
Jacob Olsen is a widower at his wedding in 1747. The engagement protocol lists their names as "Jacob Olsen Kapstøen (widower) and Karen Jørgensdatter Seivåg (widow)".[6]
His 1st wife, Valborg, was baptised on 29 Sep 1718, the daughter of Peder Knudsen, a smallholder from Knaplund, and his wife Marn Olesdatter.[7] Valborg was buried on 26 Feb 1747.[8]
The wedding of Jacob and Valborg is recorded on 15 July 1745, and the engagement was listed on 1 July. At both, Jacob is stated as of Knaplund. At the engagement the sponsors are Erich Schanche Knaplund and Hans Pedersen Knaplund. That would be Erik Jakobsen Schanke (~1706 - 1760) of Ner-Knaplund, and most likely Hans Pedersen (d. 1759) from Øver-Knaplund. No obvious relation here.
