Edis Olsen of Nedre Kvarv is first mentioned in 1609 when he reported to the arms council with a 'pipe' (gun). They first paid rent for Nedre Kvarv in 1612. Edis is mentioned as a skipper already in 1612, and he owned several trading vessels (jekt). His son Ole took over half of the farm in 1630, and in 1640

Nermo speculates that Baltzer Ediassen Jerstad is another son of Edis Olsen.[1] Nermo's record for Edis Olsen mentions 8 children (see notes below), but this remains to be proven.
