"Elise Olsen", born 1885, is listed the 1 December 1900 census as "servant, cooking assistant, other house duties" in her native Vesterålen. [1]
24 February 1910, the unmarried pregnant girl Elise travelled from Trondhjem to Kristiania, where she gave birth to her son Willy and left him there with foster parents.
"Elise Bø", born 1889 in "Vesterollen" is listed in the 1 December 1910 census in Trondhjem. In this census, the birth date is normally given, and here it is given incorrectly or misread. [2]
"Sandra Elise Olsdtr." married Wilhelm Stoppenbrink on 26 September 1915, in the parish office of Vår Frue sogn in Trondhjem. [3][4] It appears that her son Willy was not taken in while his father lived. [5]
At the death of her husband Wilhelm Stoppenbrink on 18 May 1917, his heirs are listed as wife "Elise, f. Bøe" with 1 child and 7 of his children of previous marriage. [6] For the next few years, Elise had her son living with her. [7]
Emigrated from Oslo (address: Drammensveien 6) on 26 January 1926 [8] via Bergen and Southampton to New York. Sailed from Southampton on the Cunard Line ship "S.S. Mauretania" on 3 February 1926. Her father "Ole Havtorsen, Vesteraalen" is named as her nearest relative. [9]
