Biography

Fra Disnorge http://www.disnorge.no/slektsforum/viewtopic.php?p=508979 Hello, my name is Darryl Smedley and I live in Sydney NSW Australia. Please excuse my writing in English as I know very few words of Norwegian, only those I have learnt from looking at the Digitalarkivet Parish Registers over the last few years. If I put my words into the Google Translator I am sure they would come out funny.

All the Parish Register entries for Ole AMUNDSEN and his children have them living at Nestingen and probably working in the paper mill.

My Great Great Grandfather Peter OLSEN was born in Spydeberg in 1830, he was the last child of Ole AMUNDSEN and Karen JANSDATTER who were married in Spydeberg on 12 Aug 1815. Peter moved to Aker, Kristiania in 1856 and married there in 1857 His only son of six children was Ole OLSEN born 1862 who was my Great Grandfather.

Ole arrived in Sydney as a sailor on the German ship 'Nurnberg' in 1890 and decided to stay. He married in 1891 and he was my fathers mothers father.

On my fathers side, every ancestor is an Englishman, except for the one Norwegian Ole OLSEN. I have a lot of his family history but sometimes need a little help.

I hope to post some of my questions here in the next little while.

Takk

Darryl Sydney Australia

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Ole by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Ole:
