Ary Oosterhout died before 5 October 1739, date of a letter to the probate court stating that he had died.[2]
On 12 April 1740, his wife Geesjen van der Merken registered marriage banns with Zamuel Mouwelsz and was described as the widow of Ary Oosterhout.[3]

Widow requests that letters of administration be given to his children's grandfathers, named as Thunis Oosterhoudt (this is Arrie's father) and Hendrick Roosakrans, both of Rochester. Text follows:[2]
Kingston October ye 5th day 1739 --
I send without Nicholas Bogardus three pounds six shillings & sixpence for the probate of James Scotswill(?) which is according to your account for fees, pray send me a reciept for the same, I am further to accquint you that one Arrie Oosterhoudt of marbletown in the County of Ulster Yeoman dyed intestate, where by the right of administration of the goods Chattels and Credits, is properly belonging to the widow of the Sd oosterhoudt but the Said widow being Infirm of body and there by not able to under goe the burthen of Such administration, doth Decline and Renounce the Same, and her desire and will is that the letters of administration may be granted unto Thunis Oosterhoudt & Hendrick Roosakrans both of the township of Rochester & County afore Said yeomen in whose Fidelity she hath great Cause to Confide each of them being grand fathers of her Late Husbands now Surviving Children And I doe here by humbly Certify pursuant to the trust Reposed in me, I have admitted the above named Thunis Oosterhoudt and Hendrick Roosakrans of Rochester afore Said Yeomen, administrators of all and Singular the goods Chattels & Credits of the Said Arrie Oosterhoudt, it being late in the year I hope you will Dispatch and Send me the letters of administration with the first Safe hand, and you ought to Send a bond for the Same which will be wanting I am Sd Your most humble Servant Edw: Whitaker
