Biography
Philip, was unfortunate to have developed appendicitis which was misdiagnosed by the stand-in doctor. It developed to peritonitis and it was decided to operate on the kitchen table. His death coincided with one of the worst bombing raids on London of the Blitz, based on casualty numbers. He was buried in a mass grave.
