Joseph Orcutt was born on 9 Dec 1672 in Scituate, Plymouth, Massachusetts to William Orcutt and Mary Lane. He married Sarah Smith about 1688. Children: Mercy, Ichabod, Sarah, Jeusha, Peter, Rachel, Nathan, James, Joseph, Mary. He was one of the First Settlers of Stafford, Connecticut in 1719. Said to be 12 in number. He died on 30 Sep 1752 in Stafford, Tolland, Connecticut.
