The family lived in Marblehead, Massachusetts where John worked as a shoemaker for many years. In 1868, Mary Ellen and John moved to a western suburb of Boston where they owned a farm in Hudson, Massachusetts.[5][6][7]
Mary Ellen passed away 25 Jan 1902 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts,[8] and is buried at Waterside Cemetery in Marblehead.[9]
