Biography

Mary Ellen Orne was born 2 Feb 1826, in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts, the oldest daughter of William Whitwell Orne and Mary Stevenson.^[1]

She married John Pickett Snow (1824–1913), son of Captain Samuel Snow (1789-1831) and Lucy Holmes (1792-1884) on 29 Jul 1852 in Marblehead, Massachusetts.^[2][3][4][5]

They had the following children:

1. John Thomas Snow (1853–1913)
2. Nathaniel Holmes Snow (1855–1934)
3. David Orne Snow (1858–1933)
4. Clarence Stevenson Snow (1866–1956)

The family lived in Marblehead, Massachusetts where John worked as a shoemaker for many years. In 1868, Mary Ellen and John moved to a western suburb of Boston where they owned a farm in Hudson, Massachusetts.^[5][6][7]

Mary Ellen passed away 25 Jan 1902 in Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts,^[8] and is buried at Waterside Cemetery in Marblehead.^[9]
