Biography

Margaret was mother-in-law to both John Bruen and William Hinde and in the biography of John written by William he refers to Margaret as "a very godly and gracious matron, descendant of the ancient and worshipful families of the Addertons and Lelands in Lancashire."^[1]

An illuminated manuscript of the pedigree of the Orrells of Orrell and of Turton is available at the British Library which shows Henry Orrell married to Ellin Leyland and his mother as Hellen Atherton.^[2]

1 Dec 1598, will of Isabell Typpinge^[3]: "Unto Mrs ffox de Rodes tenn shillinge". [earlier in this will Isabell refers to her daughter Dorothy as wife of John Fox, and it would be very unusual to call her daughter Mrs Fox.]
