Several authors estimate Berthold's birth to have been around 1000.[1][2] He is mentioned as Graf im Breisgau (comes in pago Brysihcgowe) in 1048.[3] in 1061 he became Herzog von Kärnten.[4] He was married twice, first to Richwara,[5] probably a daughter of Konrad II von Kärnten or alternatively of Hermann IV von Schwaben, then to Beatrix de Mousson who is called Berthold's wife in the Chronic of Bernold.[6] He died on 5 or 6 Nov 1078 at his castle Limburg near Weilheim an der Teck.[7]

"Ortengau" is a non-existent locality, perhaps Ortenau was meant? In any case LNAB should be either Breisgau as the last of this line or Zähringen as the first of this family.
Addendum: Should probably be Zähringen since he is called Berchtoldus dux de Zaringen in Nomina Fundatorum huius loci Monasterii Sancti Petri in Nigri Silva, which follows Genealogia Zaringorum, MHG SS XIII, p. 736 (from Medieval Lands).
