Research Notes

The calendar changed from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar in 1752 which means that dates before 1752 are Julian (OS) and in 1752 is Gregorian (NS). In Hinshaw's Quaker Encyclopedia cited above the dates are given as he wrote them with (OS) after it if it was in the time of the Julian calendar. For example: January 12 1729 (OS) is February 9 1730 (NS). The date on the findagrave is used by Hinshaw and is noted (OS).

Osborn-5481 and Osborne-3006 appear to represent the same person because: Multiple spellings. Will suggest that the LNAB be changed to Osborn to have one spellings for these early settlers. Some descendants use multiple spellings.
Osborne-3006 and Osborn-1307 appear to represent the same person because: birth date, death date, father, mother, spouse and siblings are all the same

Osborn-1186 and Osborn-1307 do not represent the same person because: Completely two different names, different parents, different siblings....I can not see how these can possibly be a match. Please advise if I am incorrect.

Unmerged match with Osborn-1307

Decision on spelling of last name depends on which spelling the profiled used during his lifetime. Any sources to deeds, wills, town vital records, etc. will be helpful with this.

As you probably already know, the ID number is not important when merging two different spellings. Goal will be to merge INTO the "correct spelling of the last name at birth."

Thanks!
