Biography

Richard Osborn was born about 1833 in Bloomsbury, London, England, the son of James Osborn.[1][2] He was baptized on 24 March 1833 at St Dunstan and All Saints, Stepney, Tower Hamlets, London, the son of James and Alice Osborn. Father James was a butcher.[3][4]

In 1851, Richard Osborn lived in Saint Anne Limehouse, Middlesex, England, with his father, James Osborn, 7 brothers and sisters and a relative. Richard was articled to a surveyor. Father James a=was a butcher.[5]

Richard Osborn and Mary Collings were married on 3 July 1862 at the Parish Church at Balcombe, Somerset, England. Richard, 29, was a bachelor surveyor of St. Paul, Deptford, Kent, the son of James Osborn, Gentleman. Mary, 23 of Balcombe, was the spinster daughter of John Collings, Yeoman. The ceremony was performed by license by John Brown with witnesses John Collings and E. S.(?) Burgess.[1]

In 1871, Alfred Richard Osborn lived at 10 Malcolm Terr., St. Paul Deptford, London, Kent, England. He was a widowed architect surveyor, and three sons lived with him.[6]

On Friday, 30 July 1880, Richard Osborn was admitted into the Freedom of this [London] City by Redemption in the Company of Wheelwrights, Monckton. The documents state that he was an architect, occupying premises at 10 South Street, Finsbury and 269 Lewisham HIgh Road. His father was James Osborn, late of Dalston, Middlesex, deceased.[2]

The death of Richard Osborn was registered during the 4th Quarter of 1898 at the Camberwell Registration District, London. He was 66 years old.[7]
