"On Aug. 2 1653 Goodman Osborne was ordered to begin driving the Dry Herd to Wainscott every morning. Wainscott land was allotted to John Osborne on June ye 8th, 1668. Tradition says he was the first settler in Wainscott. In records of June 13, 1670 he was given consideration, on account of living remote from the Town, to grind at hte mill on the third day of the week from 10 o'clock to twelve.
The early Osborns or Osbornes of Wainscott were tanners, like thier relatives in East hampton village and back in Kent. The remains of a a tan vat were found in 1904 while a cellar was being dug where John Osborne settled. Tradition credits John 1 with great physical strength, courage and hardihood; much shrewdness and a commanding personality."[1]

This person immigrated to New England between 1621-1640 as a Minor Child (under age 21 at time of immigration) of a Puritan Great Migration immigrant who is profiled in Robert Charles Anderson's Great Migration Directory (or is otherwise accepted by the Puritan Great Migration (PGM) Project).

Osborne-347 and Osborne-2816 appear to represent the same person because: The folks at Grayson County Virginia Heritage Foundation say that their research and the many DNA tests point to Ephraim's grand father as being this particular John Osborne. So I'm proposing to replace one of my "UNknowns" with this John.
I found a site that shows 20 generations of Osborn/Osborne/Osbourne families. John and Miriam are listed in the seventh generation. Click on the URL underlined.
At the bottom of the page is a set of controls similar to those on a VCR or DVD player. Click the single right pointing arrow to the next page or the single left one to go back one page. Keep clicking on the left arrow until you find the seventh generation. One page back has Thomas II and Mary Goatley.
