Mathurin Houelet was born on 14 Sep 1669 and baptized the 16th in Sainte-Famille, Île d'Orléans, Canada, Nouvelle-France. He was the son of René Ouellet and Anne Rivet. Godparents at the infant's baptism were Mathurin Gerber dit Lafontaine and Catherine Benard. The officiating priest was Thomas Morel.[1][2]
Marriage Mathurin Houallet, aged 22 on the record, married Angélique Lebel, aged 18 on the record, daughter of the late Nicolas Lebel and Thérèse Mignaux, on 8 Jan 1691 in Notre-Dame-de-Liesse parish of Rivière-Ouelle. In the presence of known witnesses Joseph Ouellet, Grégoire Ouellet and Jean Lebel. The celebrant priest was Francheville.[3][4]Together they had 10 children. [5]

Note that in all official documents (registers and PRDH) there is no mention of the first name Mathurin-René. This first name comes from Tanguay and seems to be an error propagated over time (Pierre Bérubé).
