Notes

The 1870 US Census lists an Enoch Overman in what appears to be an institution in Wayne Township, Marion County, Indiana. There are no notations in the census record that identify the institution being enumerated. The record shows about 570 persons in the institution (which includes persons with "Attendant" in the occupation column). The institution is recorded on pages 46 through 60 for that township. The Indiana Hospital for the Insane was in that part of the county, although there are no news stories that link Enoch Overman with that institution at that early date. At the time he was 22 years of age.
