Biography

Arthur Charles Owen was born in Cape Tormentime, New Brunswick, the third of five children of William Lee Owen and Edythe May Oulton. The job transfers of his father meant he attended school in Montreal, Kentville, Hartland and Rothesay Collegiate before moving on to Queen's University (B. Sc. (Eng)) and the University of Waterloo (M. Math.).

Following his marriage to Barbara Annette LeBlanc in St. Jerome, Quebec, they moved to Ottawa, ON where their two children, Megan Anne Owen and David Lee Owen were born.

Arthur was initially employed by Systems Dimensions Limited (SDL) as a Systems Programmer and later as Manager, Hardware Support. Following the purchase of SDL and merger with DataCrown, Arthur left the company and was employed by Technitronic and then DMR & Associates before becoming a self-employed IT Consultant. He is now retired.

Arthur got interested in genealogy while at university and over the years, with the assistance of many cousins, has worked on researching his ancestors as well as all descendants of five ancestral couples, namely:

Most of this research is available on his website Our Maritime Ties and the data for deceased persons has been added to wikitree.com. His tree on Our Maritime Ties has not been updated since 2018 so interested persons should consult wikitree.com in preference to his website tree.

Hi there, I'm working on building out the tree for the Moberger family in the US and Sweden. A search brought up a profile you manage, Moberger-1, who was born in the 1930s and is still living. I was wondering if you're able to share that Moberger profile with me so I can link them up with my tree correctly. I'm also really curious to see how we're connected!

Thank you!!

Hi Arthur,

I am so thankful for all of the information you have provided for the rest of us to learn about our ancestors.

It appears my 5th Great Grandparents are Charles Oulton and Abigail Fillmore. My grandmother was Reta (Rita) Armstrong Corbett (Wilkins) & my mom was June Marie Wilkins (Dowling).

I remember seeing my mom, and dad Robert Dowling, moms siblings and some of my siblings in your tree.

When I was young, I remember my parents going to Nova Scotia to visit family.

So thank you again, its nice to know where we rooted from.
