He was born in Bala, Merionethshire, Wales
He was baptised in Yspytty Ifan on the 10 Aug 1746.
He ran away from home because of a stepmother.
In 1763 he went from Wales to London, England.
In 1765 he arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While aboard ship, he met an Irish girl Sarah, who he later married, after he completed his apprenticeship which paid for his passage.
He migrated to Virginia & Greene County, Tennessee & finally settled in Kentucky.
He was baptized in the Cherokee Church by James KEEL. Upon moving to Kentucky, he was ordained a minister in KY,Madison-Co by Andrew TRIBBLE.

He was a Baptist preacher uniting with the Cartwright's Creek United Baptist Church. He had certain emancipation views that disagreed with his church & he & his wife withdrew from its fellowship in January 1807.
His Last Will was proved in Kentucky on 8 January 1812.
