Biography
William Owens was born on 11 Apr 1901 in Carrickfergus, Antrim, Ireland, son of George Owens (1867– ) and Martha Patterson (1871– ). The family resided at Albert Road, Carrickfergus, and William's father George was a mechanic. The birth was reported by Margaret Caldwell of High Street, present at birth.[1]
In the 1911 Census, William was the 9 year old son of George and Martha, residing at a house 27 in Albert Road (Carrickfergus, Antrim). By this point, Martha had given birth to 10 children, all of whom were still living.[2]
