Charles August "Gus" Owens was born August 7, 1872 to James Owens and Manda Hoseler Owens at Cooper HIll, Missouri. His general occupation was a laborer.

Charles August "Gus" Owens married Margaret Louise Tackitt, daughter of John Nelson Tackitt and Malinda Ann Ellis Tackitt.

Charles August "Gus Owens and Margaret L. Tackitt Owens had two children: Ethel Jane Owens Lea, born 1908 and passed away 1993; Ada Marie Owens born 1910 and passed away 1917.

Charles August "Gus" Owens passed away on March 29, 1947 at St. Francis Hospital in Washington, Missouri in Franklin County, Missouri. The Missouri State Board of Health Certificate of Death states that Gus passed away from Intestitial pneumonia that had lasted about 2 weeks due to a virus infection due to Chronic Nephritis Myocurditis. Gus Owens was 74 years, 7 months and 22 days old. The informant on the death certificate was James Owens of St. Louis, Missouri

Charles August "Gus" Owens was buried at Union Cemetery in Franklin County, Missouri. His wife, Margaret L. Tackitt Owens, passed away on May 12, 1860 and is buried at Union Cemetery in Franklin County, Missouri.

Charles was born in 1872. He was the son of Gus Owens and Amanda Hassler. He passed away in 1947.
