WP is at home with his family up to 1903-see his father's profile for the 1900 census. I am unsure at what point after his father died that WP went to work or when he went off to Illinois (see below).
1910 Census
WP's father and baby sister, Grace, both died in 1903. His mother and younger sister, Hazel, are living with his oldest sister Jessie and her husband. They are all still in Jackson County, Indiana. WP is in Illinois working.
Name: Phillip Owens
Event Place: Champaign, Champaign, Illinois, United States
I haven't been able to locate an actual marriage certificate. My best guess without it is that WP traveled to Missouri, met Mamie and they were married in Missouri. I haven't found any indication that the Kee family would have been in Kansas at this time. After their marriage WP & Mamie traveled to Kansas where their first child, Clifford, was born.
1917 WWI Draft
See photo. WP and Mamie are living in Gardner, Johnson, Kansas. WP lists his widowed mother as a dependant as well as his wife and one child.
Name: William Philip Owens
Event Place: Johnson County, Kansas, United States
See photos (pg 1 & 2). Clifford's Kansas birth remains consistant through the years. Since Clarence was born in Missouri we can surmise that WP & Mamie were only in Kansas for a relatively short while. WP's widowed mother Phoebe is living with the family. Phoebe lists her father's birthplace as North Carolina, her mother's as Indiana.
Name: Philip Owens
Event Place: Campbell, Greene, Missouri, United States
See photos (pg 1 & 2). Chester Claude is listed in this census even though his grave stone notes he died in 1929. His Death Certificate lists his death in September of 1930 -after this census, which would appear to make more sense. I'm am unsure why Neita does not show up on this census--perhaps the age given (11) on the 1940 census is incorrect?
