Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, here are a few more features you may find useful:
You can find recommended profile formats and tips on writing biographies in Styles and Standards.
To describe an event, an heirloom or a location, you can use a Free Space Profile.
Sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. See our process for resolving these situations.
If you have questions or problems with WikiTree, including with your GEDCOM, feel free to post a comment on my profile page or send me a private message.
Consider reading discussions tagged as 'GEDCOM' in our forum, G2G
(After importing a large GEDCOM with multiple sources, I found that adding profiles by hand would have been more efficient. If you have a lot of sources for each profile, consider using the match function, but not the import.)
As a mentor I'm here to help. If you have questions or problems with WikiTree, including with your GEDCOM, post a comment on my profile page or send me a private message.
The more ancestors you add, the more likely cousins will find you and help out.
Our Honor Code, G2G forum, help pages, search features, and many other useful links can be accessed from the menus on the upper right corner of most pages.
Please consider stopping by the Tree House to introduce yourself.
VERY IMPORTANT:
The more documents, sources, dates, and locations you provide on the profiles you create, the stronger your branches and our mutual global tree will be. If you don't know the correct date, please estimate using before or after. More clues are on my profile page if interested.
Thank you for helping in our mission to build a global tree with only ONE profile per person.
Yes. Love that I found this site! My dad has extensive trees done from family tree maker. I would like to input this online, and also work on learning my husband's tree. I think I can get the Gencom #s soon. I am a newbie.
A few employees and a whole lot of volunteers are working together to create a FREE global family tree with only one profile per person. If you'd like to help us by adding your family branches or help to grow the tree in some other way, please select the volunteer button and leave a statement informing us of your interest in our project.
