Biography
Captain Robert Owen, was a pioneer boatman on the Mississippi as part owner of the steamboat Park Bluff and the steamer Prescott. His brother Ephraim was also a steamboat captain.
He was the son of Capt. Robert S. Owen who owned and operated two steamboats on the Mississippi, based at DesMoines.
He took Miss Mary Barnett as his wife just a few months before he died of Yellow Fever. He was stricken in Baton Rouge, LA, then taken at once to St. Louis where he died.
