CONT Mrs Nunn was born at 1 Rose Cottages, Withersfield Road, Haverhill in 1913, daughter of the late Arthur and Carried Baynes. Her father was a leather worker and made mostly horse saddles, with a shop in Queens Street. She married Mr Leslie Stephen Nunn, a master basket maker with a willow growing business in the town. Her death came as a shock to her family and to all that knew her. Her kind and friendly way brought her many friends, all of whom will miss her very much. CONT She leaves two sons, one a policeman in London, and the other a teacher in Leeds. CONT The funeral service at Haverhill Methodist Church was conducted by the Rev. ↑ Source: #S46 Page: 1992 discussion with Steve Nunn Data: Text: Ella and Pat knew each other quite well in Ireland, even though they were from separate towns. They'd see each other at dances now and then. Pat referred to having to walk a long way home at night after seeing her. (there were no more details about their relationship in Ireland). CONT They kept in touch when both in England, during the war. CONT Early in World War II Ella was working as a maid in Shoreham (near Brighton), and said she was worred about being bombed. It wasn't easy to travel around the country, so Pat had to go down to Shoreham to see her, and get her. They moved to Stratford upon Avon where Pat was living, and it was safer CONT It is safe to assume that they had to be engaged to travel together during the war, so Pat went to Shoreham to ask Ella to marry him.
