Born 20 NOV 1846.

Buried Isabell's Chapel Cemetery, Rusk Co., TX.

Event: Military CSA, Co. D, 3rd Brigade, Texas State Troops, also Pvt. 17th Texas Cavalry.

Isaac N. Owens was born in Monroe Co., Alabama on Nov. 20,1846. He enlisted during the Civil War at Nacogdoches, Texas. He served in Texas, Lousiana, and Arkansas with Co. D. or Co. G. under Capt. C.C. Grayson, Nacogdoches Co., 3rd Brigade, Texas State Troops; also pvt. 17th Texas Cavalry. He fought bravely and honorably from his enlistment to his discharge. He never deserted or abandoned his post. After the war, he married Mary A. Campbell on May 27, 1867 in Rusk Co.. One son is known, T.J. Owens of Henderson, Texas. Isaac applied for a Confederate Pension in Texas in 1910. It was approved under Pension File No. 19226. Isaac died on March 17, 1929 at his son's home. He is buried in Isabel's Chapel Cemetery in Rusk Co.

Owens-7169 and Owens-5104 appear to represent the same person because: I am a direct descendant of Isaac (Issac) Newton Owens. He is my paternal grandmother's grandfather. I have multiple family members who lived and are buried in Mount Enterprise, Rusk Co., Texas. I have further information about his extended family through my father, James Jackson, Sr.
