Biography Text:
Richard E. Paris Pace was born in 1820, the son of William Pace, Sr. and Martha Patsey Hixon. Richard had two siblings, William Pace, Jr., and Sarah E. Pace. Richard also had five (5) half-siblings. Richard’s father, William Sr., was first married to Bathena Cox, and they had four (4) children, Charles Lee Pace (uncle is LeeRoy), Dreadsill William (aka Dread William) Pace, Pernetta Jackson Pace, and Bartley Barnett Pace. Then Richard’s mother, Martha Patsey (HIXON) Pace later married Robert (W.) Patton, Sr. in 1825, and they had one (1) child together, Robert, Capt. Patton, Jr. (Note: Another child, Susan Patton, also exists as possible daughter of Martha Patsey and Robert, but her birth year indicates she was born after Robert Patton, Sr.’s death; RESEARCH) (Pernetta Pace, half-sister, married David Patton, may be the brother of Robert Patton, Sr.)
Richard E. Paris Pace married Ursula Susan Giles in 1846 in Marion County, Georgia. Their children were William Dreadzil Pace, and Robert Giles Pace. NOTE: A daughter, Mary Z. Pace (1850-1850) (W/T Id_Pace-2035) appears to have been born and died in year 1850, infant death; only ‘source’ currently found is in ‘Geneanet’ site; more RESEARCH and SOURCE required to verify. (NOTE: James Miles Pace, mentioned as possible child, but no records found to indicate child’s parents as Richard and Ursula; more RESEARCH). * [Additional History: Ursula Susan (Giles) Pace later married Alfred F. Dorman in 1855 in Sumter County, GA. Their child was Alfred Frank Dorman. Ursula’s husband Alfred was previously married to Bethena Ramsey, and they had five children, William Charles, Alfred F. Dorman, Harriet E., Alexander, and Perry Dorman. NOTE: child John Allen Dorman currently indicates birth year as 1956; RESEARCH to verify, and to determine if Mother is Bethena Ramsey or Ursula Giles; Bethena indicates died in year 1856, possibly due to childbirth?; but Ursula’s marriage to Alfred is indicated as 16 May 1855; RESEARCH.]
