Ruth Purington Paine, daughter of Barnabas Paine and Mary Purrington, was born on 23 April 1736 in Truro, Barnstable, Massachusetts Bay, British Colonial America. ^{[1] [2] [3]}

Ruth was wed to Deacon Ebenezer Rich on 30 October 1754 in Truro, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. ^[4]

Deacon Rich was born in Truro, Barnstable County, Massachusetts on 20 March 1728. He was the son of Samuel Rich and Bethia Arey of Truro. They lived in an area of Truro known as the "Outer Cape". English colonists named it after Truro in Cornwall, England. It was located just south of the northern tip of Cape Cod.

They had the following children together:
