PHEBE PAINE, (John, Ralph), was born in Freetown and died there after 5 February 1763 but before 22 August 1781. Her marriage intention of 28 January 1743/4 calls her Phebe, but her marriage record calls her "Philip." She married in Freetown on 23 February 1743/4 HUGH DOUGLAS, who was born in Swansea on 17 August 1719 and died before 3 November 1781 when his will was probated in Bristol County. He was the son of John and Agnes ( ) Douglas. He married second on 22 August 1781 the widow Rebecca Hathaway of Freetown. She married on 6 February 1800 as her third husband Joseph Read.
