Biography
Martha Palmer, the fifth child of Jonas (aka Jonah) and Elizabeth (Grissell) Palmer, was born in Rehoboth 6 July 1666.[1] At that time the Rehoboth Plantation was adjunct to the Plymouth Colony, not the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Her birth family were among the few English immigrants to North America who cleared and settled the wilderness areas of southeastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and eastern Connecticut. As such, they were pioneers who chose not to become part of the more comfortable, urbane life of the emerging Boston metropolis.
Martha Palmer married at Rehoboth 19 Jan 1687/8 Joseph Titus, son of John and Abigail (Carpenter) Titus. who was born in Rehoboth March 17, 1666.[1] They had nine children: Joseph, Jonah, Benjamin, Noah, Martha, Mary, Lydia, Abigail, Phebe.[1]
Martha (Palmer) Titus died 18 Sept 1762, in her 74th year[1], at Rehoboth, Massachusetts.
