Biography

Jonathan Palmer was born on 7 August 1668 at Stonington, Connecticut.[1] He was the third child of Nehemiah Palmer,[1] who was married by Captain Denison at Stonington on 20 November 1662 to Hannah Stanton, the daughter of Thomas Stanton, Sr, and Nehemiah was the son of Walter Palmer.[2]

Jonathan was the brother of :

  1. Joseph Palmer, born 3 October 1663 at Stonington;[1]
  2. Daniel Palmer, born 12 November 1672 at Stonington;[3]
  3. Nehemiah Palmer, b. 8 Jul 1677; d. 1735
  4. Hannah (Palmer) York, b. 11 Apr 1680; d. 19 Jul 1751

Jonathan married Mercy Mainwaring (also referred to as Marcy Mannering or Mary Manwarring) on 1 December 1706 at Stonington.[1] They had 10 children during the ensuing timeframe through November 1724, all born at Stonington:

  1. Judith Palmer, b. 6 Jan 1707/08
  2. Mary Palmer, b. 27 Feb 1708/09
  3. Hannah Palmer, born 2 December 1710/1 at Stonington, and was married there by Rev Ebenezer Rosseter to William York on 22 February 1729/30;[4]
  4. Anna Palmer, b. 15 May 1713
  5. Irene Palmer, b. 26 Mar 1715
  6. Love Palmer, b. 3 Mar 1716/17; d. 23 Jul 1796 @ Alstead, New Hampshire
  7. Prudence Palmer, born 31 March 1718/9 at Stonington;[5]; d. after 1780 @ Canaan, New York
  8. Jonathan Palmer, born 23 December 1720 at Stonington;[1] d. 5 Jul 1803 @ Stonington
  9. Oliver Palmer, born 7 May 1722 at Stonington;[2] d. 1781 @ Stonington
  10. Elizabeth Palmer, b. 28 Nov 1724; d. about 1775 @ East Haddam, Connecticut

Jonathan Palmer died at Stonington on 26 August 1726.[1]
