Grace Palmer was born 1 Oct 1668 at the Rehoboth Plantation, which at that time was adjunct to the Plymouth Colony, not the Massachusetts Bay Colony. She was the sixth and final child of Elizabeth Griswold a.k.a. Grissell, the first wife of Jonah Palmer.
Her birth family were among the few English immigrants to North America who cleared and settled the wilderness areas of southeastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and eastern Connecticut. As such, they were pioneers who chose not to become part of the more comfortable, urbane life of the emerging Boston metropolis.
Grace Palmer married James Carpenter (his 2nd wife) 15 Apr 1695 at Rehoboth. They had at least 5, perhaps 7 children.
