Biography

This Sabra Palmer, born 25 Apr 1767, was a daughter of Elizabeth (Stephens/Stewart) & her second husband Joseph Palmer. See the profile of William Stewart for indication of her birth date.

Note NI007301. Sabra was a Mayflower descendant (John Howland and Elizabeth Tilley).

Note that this Sabra Palmer was not the same named person who was born 4 Aug 1765 [Palmer-3849], daughter of Marvin (Palmer) & Denison Palmer Sr., who lived contemporaneously, also in Stonington, and who became the wife of Asa Chesebrough.

Background information: William Stewart, Jr., m. Elizabeth Stephens Dec. 4, 1740. He was a pattern farmer of his day. He purchased of the Elliots what is now called Stewart Hill, and d. aged about 46 years, leaving Elizabeth widowed with nine children; she afterwards m. Joseph Palmer, a widower with nine children, and they had one daughter Sabra (this profile), making a family of nineteen children.

Sabra Palmer married 1 Jan 1792 @ Stonington, Connecticut, Rowland Palmer. This family moved from Stonington to Otsego, New York, during the late 1790s when that area was still a wilderness. There were 7 children of this family during the timespan through March 1811, the last 5 of whom were born at Otsego, and all except one of whom lived to adulthood. Sabra & Rowland then moved to Lafayette, Onondaga County, New York, where they lived out their lives.

Per the Miner-Avery online genealogy (unsourced, variable), Sabra (Palmer) Palmer died 20 Jul 1850 at Lafayette, New York.

Palmer-15412 and Palmer-5529 appear to represent the same person because: Two profiles created from different perspectives, one from the father downward on the tree, the other from her children upward.
