Biography

Her marriage license calls her Augusta H. Palmer and was issued on May 16, 1857. A close examination of the original record reveals she was actually married on May 20th.

Mrs. Doren wife of the late Dennis Doren, who was the general superintendent of construction of the Western Union Telegraph company, is having a beautiful sarcophagus erected in the cemetery at Fitchville in memory of her husband, which is to cost $30,000 the handsomest and costliest in northern Ohio. - Lima Daily News August 6, 1898

An important suit was begun in the Huron county common pleas court Monday, with Judge C. S. Reed on the bench and eminent counsel employed on both sides. It is the case of Margaret Parker el al. vs. Hubbard D. Palmer executor et al. Palmer is the executor of the estate of the late Augusta Doren, of New York, widow of the late Dennis Doren, of New York city, who was construction manager of the Western Union Telegraph company, and who died a few years ago reported to be worth $800,000. Two or Three years ago Mrs. Doren died and made a will. Certain heirs of her estate found fault with the provisions and seek to have it broken or set aside, claiming that undue influence was used. The suit involves the disposition of about $450,000. Over one hundred and thirty-five witnesses have been subpoenaed and the case will occupy the attention of the court for a long time. - Sandusky Evening Star December 9, 1902

A final accounting of her estate would not be reached until 1929. She had no children.
