It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA.

Palmer-15299 and Palmer-6496 are not ready to be merged because: Are we sure that these are both for the same James Palmer? Possibly one of them is incorrectly attached to the identified parents (who, yes, were duplicated, now merged). I don't have records on whether their son James was born either in Columbia County or Dutchess County, New York, but before the merge is done perhaps we should try to verify. Can someone do an upward trace from the Ontario records to determine the origin of the one who died there?
