Jack was born in 1914. He was the son of Arthur Kitchen and Anne Voght. [1] He passed away in 1992. [2]
Pilot Officer Jack Crichton Palmer, whose father, Mr A. F. Palmer, lives at Waimate, is another New Zealander to whom the Distinguished Flying Cross has been awarded. The citation to his award recognises the high skill, fortitude, and devotion to duty which he has displayed in completing many successful operations against the enemy. Born at Meremere in 1914, Pilot Officer Palmer was educated at the New Plymouth Boys’ High School and was engaged on survey work for the Public Works Department when he enlisted for a short service commission in the Royal Air Force in 1938. The London Gazette of January 21 1944, in announcing his DFC, published his service number as 149908, in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, 78 Squadron
