Biography

Elender was born in 1786 to Henry Paris and Talitha Morgan in South Carolina. She married Henry Cobb at age 17 and, after her husband's death in 1850, she left South Carolina for Mississippi to live with her son Amaziah B Cobb. She passed away in 1872 at 85 years old.

Will of Henry Paris

[1] Of Greenville Dist., Farmer. To son William a negro girl Caroline. Negro girl Suffrona and her four children and their increase to remain with my daughter Lurany Jenkins her lifetime and at her death to be equally divided between my daughter Elander Cobb and my son William Paris or their heirs. Negro girl Ann to be left in the hands of Amaziah B Cobb as trustee for my daughter Mary Mauldin and that she be hired out and proceeds apply to the support of my daughter. After her death to be equally divided between my daughter Elander Cobb and my son William Paris. Daughter Nancy Paris is to live with my daughter Elander Cobb and slaves Betsy and her children Jess, Susannah, Mary, Jenny and Matilda to remain with her. At her death to my daughter Elander Cobb.
To my granddaughter Elizabeth Cobb a negro girl Salley. To my granddaughter Mary Paris, daughter of William Paris, a negro girl Harriet.
Plantation and a negro boy Hence are to be sold. To son Moses, a negro girl Emily and her two children, negro Frank and infant not named. To son John Paris $5.00. To daughter Elizabeth Gordon $1.00.
