Biography

Marguerite Parisien was born at Dakota Territory circa 1827[1] to Hyacinthe Parisien and Josephte Carriere[2].

Marguerite married Francois Desjarlais (son of Francois Desjarlais and an unknown Sauteuse woman). At the time of the 1870 United States census, they were residing at St. Joseph, Dakota Territory along with eight of their children.[1]

Francois passed away sometime before 1893. From 1893 through 1898, Marguerite (a widow) was enumerated in the Native American census rolls at Devil's Lake, North Dakota, along with her three youngest sons: Jean Baptiste, Calixte and Joseph.[3][4][5][6]

She passed away at Belcourt, Rolette County, North Dakota on 8 Jan 1908.[2]

Research Notes

Marguerite's husband Francois Desjarlais was born and baptized at St. Boniface in 1832 to parents Francois Desjarlais and an unknown Sauteuse woman, and died prior to 1893; he should not be confused with Francois Xavier Desjarlais who was baptized at St. Francois Xavier in 1834 at the age of 6 years, and died in 1908; (his parents were Francois Desjarlais and Marie Maskegone aka Baptiste; he married Marguerite Desmarais, daughter of Francois Desmarais and Marguerite Villebrun dit Plouf).
