Biography

In 1839, when Hannah was 5 years old, the Parker family had made its move from Tennessee and located in Benton County, Missouri, finally settling in vicinity of Fristoe Township. As she grew up, attending school and services at the local Baptist church, she must have become acquainted with the widow Milly Dodd and her children. It would truly have been difficult as the family lived in the same township! It was one of Milly's sons that would catch the eye of Hannah and following a courtship were married in 1853.

Hannah's first daughter, Mary, was born in 1855, the year Hannah's mother passed away. This could create a family problem as the children ages spanned from 24 years to 3 months. Oldest siblings already had several small children and unable to cope with an additional 4 children (it would be preferred to keep the siblings together).

However, Hannah and Andrew would evidently take her younger brothers and sister, William, Josiah, and Mary Ann to live with her. It is probable she had taken little Hezekiah also, but since she had 3 more children born by 1860 and this is only guess-work, but if Hannah had in fact taken Hezekiah, she was unable to continue for at some point before the 1860 census, Hezekiah would come to live with the Henry Bird family.

It was somewhere about this time the family made a move to St. Clair County, Missouri where Andrew was appointed Justice of the Peace.

In 1868, Letitia Dodd, the couples last child was born and it is likely that Hannah's death occurred during or shortly after childbirth. This event is supported as care of the Dodd children was passed to Jane Tally, the children's grandmother.

It is further supported and documented that Andrew J. Dodd remarried in 1869. Hannah and Andrew J. Dodd's children were: Mary (b 1855), Sarah (b 1856), Hezekiah (b 1857), Manerva Elizabeth "Lizzie" (b 1859), Millie (b 1864), and Letitia (b 1868).
