Biography
Mary was born in 1862 on the family property, 'Orange Grove', Marlee, NSW; birth registered in Wingham, NSW (reg no. 8750/1862)[1].
Baptised by Rev William Clarkson Hawkins at St John The Divine Church of England, Taree.
At the house of Thomas Parker, Marlee, on May 29 1882, widower Thomas Brocklesby Beale, born Cork City, Cork, Ireland, storekeeper in Wingham, aged 44 years, wed Mary Jane Parker, aged 20 years[2], in the presence of David Irvine and Margaret Isabella Agnew Irvine. Rev Hawkins officiated at the ceremony.
At Wingham on July 2, 1893, Thomas B Beale died aged 55 years,
Thomas Brocklesby Beale was her first husband; after his death, she moved to Pyrmont in Sydney with her daughters, and there married Walter Charles Murphy in 1910[3].
NSW Electoral roll 1935 for West Sydney, Pyrmont sub-division: residing 172 Harris St, Pyrmont, home duties, with Victoria Jane Gilchrist h.d. and Eileen Beale Gilchrist clerk: not there in 1937.
She died at her residence in 1942 in Waratah Ave, Randwick, NSW[4]. Informant was her grandson, Roy Beale Gilchrist. Death registration 12761/1942, died 22 June, 80 years old. She was a pensioner. Children listed were Florence 61, Victoria 55, Alice M M 53, Constance B 49, one female deceased. Death causes listed were influenza, pneumonia, myocarditis. Cremated at Eastern Suburbs Crematorium 23/6/1942.
