Elisha may (or may not) have been a brother to Robert Parker of Barnstable, but more research is needed into this possibility[1], and to identify sources for the parents and other information noted here.

Notes

The following is a transcribed will record of the Elisha who supposedly had 3 wives, the first being Elizabeth, second Hannah Rolph [Rolfe], last being Ursula Crage [Craig]. It seems questionable he would not mentioned even one of his older surviving children AND made a minor son John (b. 23 Dec 1692) administrator when of age. The minor son, John, was of age when this Elisha died. He mentions land of his father's bought of Nathaniel and Edward Fitz Randolph. Could this be a son of Elisha Parker Sr. and Elizabeth Hinckley? History of Union and Middlesex Counties, New Jersey lists the 2nd son of Elisha Sr. as an Elisha who was in 1681 styled "weaver" and in 1701 "Merchant of Woodbridge". He is then claimed to have moved to Perth Amboy and died unmarried and childless in 1727 leaving his estate to his 1/2 sisters. HUGE ISSUE: The brother of Elizabeth Johnston, Ursela Parker, and Mary Parker was not their 1/2 brother but their full sibling, birth record exists. He did die unmarried and childless in 1727 but was not born until 1704, the son of Elisha and Ursela. The will below truly appears to be that of Elisha Parker, Jr.

1709 Sept. 8. Parker, Elisha, of Woodbridge, Middlesex Co., merchant; will of. Wife Ursela. Children—John, Elisha, Elizabeth, Ursela, Mary, all under age, and an expected child. Mansion house at Woodbridge with lot, 34 acres of pasture between Samuel Smith, Steven Tutle, Henry Freeman and the highway, an island of 3 a. in Papiack Creek, a farm bought of Benjamin Hull, John Worth and Daniell Clemence in Woodbridge and Piscataqua Townships. Personal property—a negro woman, two Indian slaves (a boy and a girl), a silver tankard). Son John sole executor, when he comes of age, until then the wife, Adam Hude and John Kinsey. Witnesses—Tho: Farmar, Miles Forster, George Willocks. Proved July 1, 1717.

John b. 23 Dec 1692 d. 1731/2 (Elisha and Hannah Rolfe m. 1691) Elizabeth b. 21 March 1698 (Elisha and Ursela Crage [Craig] m. 27 Sept 1697 Elisha b. 25 Nov 1704 will dated 13 April 1727, proved 21 June 1732. Ursela b. 21 Dec 1700 d. 1758 Perth Amboy Mary b. 22 Dec 1702 Edward b. after Jan 10th 1710, not yet 21 when brother John wrote will, baptized 30 April 1716.

1727, April 13. Parker, Elisha, of Perth Amboy, Middlesex Co., merchant; will of. 100 acres in Woodbridge sold to David Burgoies of Piscataway, Middlesex Co., husbandman, by my brother, John Parker, Esq., Sept. 21, 1725. Sisters—Elizabeth, Ursula, and Mary Parker. Nephew, Elisha, eldest son of brother John Parker, Esq. Executor—brother, John Parker, Esq. Witnesses—Js. Maxwell, Mary Forster, J. Stevens. Proved June 21, 1732. Lib. B, p. 284.

1731, Jan. 10. Parker, John, of Perth Amboy, Middlesex Co., gent; will of. Plantation leased to Thomas Abbott and John Wade, deceased, in Somerset Co. Land in Perth Amboy bought of Mrs. Isabell Davis and Moses Rolfe, lying in front of Andrew Herriot's door; land in Woodbridge joining lands of Mr. Peterson, Shobal Smith, and Henry Freeman; land my father, Elisha Parker, and Mr. Adam Hude bought of Nathaniel FitzRandolph and Edward FitzRandolph, to my brother, Edward Parker, at 21 years of age, on condition that his mother, my mother-in-law, Mrs. Elizabeth Parker, release her right of dower. Agreement made with Alexander Ekman, James Parker and James Caldwell for land on Pasiack River; agreement with David Sutton. Deceased brother, Elisha Parker. Children—Elisha, James, John, Lewis Johnston, and Mary, all under age. Sisters—Elizabeth Johnston, Ursula and Mary Parker. Friend Mary Forster a ring. Guardians—wife Jennette and brothers Andrew and Lewis Johnston. Executors—wife, and friends William Skinner, clerk, Andrew Johnston of Perth Amboy, merchant, and Robert Hude of Woodbridge, yeoman. Witnesses—Anne Morris, John Hamilton, John Watson. Codicil. Friends Robert and James Hude, land purchased of their father, Adam Hude, joining lands of Elizens Barron, deceased, and John Thomson; lands bought of my sisters. Moses Rolfe and John Herriot; land lately Richard Worth's deceased; land in Perth Amboy now in possession of Joseph Leigh. Witnesses—Robert King, John Watson, Fenw'k Lyell. Proved Dec. 5, 1732. Lib. B, p. 330.

NOTE: Mother-in-law was proper terminology for step-mother. Ursela was perhaps also an Elizabeth or little brother Edward was from a last wife taken between the 1709 date of Elisha Jr's will and his 1717 death? One source claims the child was baptized in the First Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia in 1716.

I believe to have proven the Elisha Parker who passed in 1717 (will in notes) was the son of this Elisha Parker and Elizabeth Hinckley. This would mean the children attributed to Elisha from 2nd marriage to Hannah Rolfe and 3rd to Ursela Crage were actually his grandchildren and his son Elisha DID NOT die unmarried and childless in 1727, as several sources claim, it was his grandson (son of Elisha Jr.) who did. See notes for hopefully comprehensible explanation. Thanks ~Honi
