Ludington Daily News, Ludington, Mason, Michigan, Aug 4, 1930[12] Former Teacher Returns to note marked changes Russell H Parker of Detroit, former Mason County Teacher, recently visited after an absence of 20 years. Mr. Parker came to Ludington with his daughter and family, Mr. & Mrs. James Bonneville and children, who visited at the Francis Barber home. Mr. Parker spent a good share of the week with his nephew, Rex Parker and family and with his niece, Mrs. Charles Knack. He was delighted to find so many of his old friends here. He enjoyed a motor trip through the country with J.N. Mack. Mr. Parker was one of Scottville's first teachers. He also taught other places in the country and for a number of years worked on county newspapers. He was pleased with the improvements made in farm homes and surroundings. The well built roads and paved streets in Scottville were another source of interest to Mr. Parker. It was this greeting of old time friends that gave Mr. Parker the most pleasure. While in Ludington an elderly man approached with outstretched hand and for a moment neither could recall the other's name. In a few moments Mr. Parker and Mr. Cole of Summit, friends from the days of early county history, were bringing back those days and events with pleasure.
