Jane Parker, the wife of Samuel Gilpin (b. Mar 24 1701) was a daughter of John Parker, of Philadelphia, who had come from Bingley, Yorkeshire, England, and his wife Mary, daughter of Richard Doe, said to have been a Huguenot refugee from France. Mrs. Gilpin survived her husband, and resided from his death with her son Joseph at Gilpin Manor, where she died, August 8, 1775. They had four sons, Joseph, Thomas, Samuel, and George, and three daughters, Mary, Hannah, and Rachel.
