Nathaniel Parker was born in 1743, the son of William Parker ( b. 14 Nov 1716, Shrewsbury, Worcester Co., MA) and Mary Maynard[1][2]
Nathaniel was a Major in the army under General Wolfe and took part in the capture of Quebec in 1759. He was granted land in Nova Scotia in recognition of his military service. He came to Nova Scotia in 1765[3]
In 1766, in he married Anne Hardy, (born 22 August 1741, daughter of Aaron Hardy, Hepzibah Bradish of Worcester, Massachusetts). They were among the first English settlers in Nictaux, NS. Their children included:
William Parker, b. Abt 1768, d. 30 Apr 1848, Aylesford, Kings Co., N.S., who married Lydia Benjamin in 1790, lived in Aylesford, and had 10 children
Capt. Nathaniel Parker, b. 1772 or 1775, d. 12 Sep 1859, who married first Diadema Morse in 1799, and second Sarah Ann Parker (daughter of Stephen Parker and widow of George Harris) in 1855. He lived at Bear River, and had 11 children
Henry Alline Parker, b. 19 Jul 1774, Nictaux, Annapolis Co., d. 3 May 1871, Nictaux, Annapolis Co.,, who married Hannah Morse, daughter of Abner Morse on 2 Jun 1801, and had 13 children
Miriam Parker Graves, b. 1772, d. 2 Jul 1849, who married Elias Graves and had 5 children
Mary, b, 1775, m. Daniel Benjamin, Horton, N.S.
Lucy Parker Welton b. 1778, who married Cephas Welton on 20 Feb 1794 and had 7 children
Anna died about 1778 and is buried in the Nictaux Community Cemetery[4]
In 1779, he married Salome Whitman, daughter of Deacon John Withman and widow of Major Ezekiel Cleveland, son of Lemuel Cleveland[5], and they had children, including[6]
Henry Parker, b. 1780, m. (1st) Eleanor Starratt, (2nd) Sophia Prentiss, nee Tupper, and had 8 children
Elizabeth Parker Morse Felch, b. 1781, m. 1800, (1st) Church Morse, and had 9 children, and married, (2nd) Samuel Felch
Parnie Parker Wheelock, b ; 1783, m. 1801, Abel Wheelock, and had 9 children
Irene Parker Grimes, b. 1785, m. Hugh Grimes son of Patrick Grimes, and had 10 children
Mittie Parker Wheelock, b. 1788, maarried John Wheelock.
Lovefry Parker Bent Freeman, b. 1790, m. (1st) Beriah Bent, (2nd), 1828, Simeon Freeman.
Charlotte Parker Freeman, b. 1792, m. Deacon Zoeth Freeman, 5 ch.
Letitia Parker McPherson, b. 1794, m. Daniel (or Donald) McPherson, 9 ch.
Rev. Maynard Parker, b. 1795, m. (1st) 1821, Catharine Spurr, (2nd) Margaret (Miller) Norwell, d. 1860, 13 ch.
Maria Parker Leadbetter, b. 1800, m. Deacon Luther Leadbetter, d. 1874, 5 ch.
These sources state that Nathaniel and Salome Parker were among the first persons to be baptised by immersion in 1799, which involved an arduous journey through the wilderness on one horse, from Annapolis to the Gaspereaux Valley in Kings County.
Major Nathaniel Parker died 31 Jul 1830, and is buried in the Nictaux Community Cemetery[7]
