Everett Parker was a very tall, handsome man, over 6 ft. 2 in. and dark
hair. He delivered lime and gravel for people, when he was first
married. He became a very successful farmer, but had to work very hard
to accomplish this. He retired to the town of Salem, IA, buying a house
on the very property where he & his parents lived while he was growing
up. The house they bought was sold at an auction the lady that had it
built, had a stroke and never got to live there. He met Vera Georgia
Harter (my mother) at a Salem 4th of July Celebration, she was a good
friend with his cousin Lucille (Parker) Whaley.
He helped with the paving of the street out in front of his house, as his
father owned and operated several dump trucks.
Dad was born West of Salem.
