Biography

Frank J. Parker was the son of Nathaniel Jackson Parker and Charlott F. Nesbitt. His parents had at least six children: five sons and one daughter. The Parker family slowly moved West from Ohio to Indiana where the first three children were born and then to Iowa were the last three children were born. The family (except the daughter, Margaret) moved to Garberville for their final destination.

Frank worked as a butcher in South Fork, a saloon keeper, and then later as a stage driver on the Briceland-Thorne Road. He married Agenite ("Aggie") J. Miller of Dover, New Jersey on 1 September 1892 in Garberville. Frank was 27 years old and Aggie was only 17 (her parents had to give their written consent as she was underage). Her family had moved to Briceland where her father Walter Miller was a blacksmith. In 1900 Frank and his little family were living in Westport, Mendocino County. He died the following year at the age of 33 and was buried in Garberville.

Aggie and Frank had three children: Thomas Leo, Anita Jennie, and Camille Parker. Thomas Leo died at age 9 and Camille died also as a young child (born November, 1899). Only one child survived childhood, Anita.
