John Parker was born about 1725 in Bertie, North Carolina, son of John Henry Parker (1697–~1761) and Mary Stone (~1699–~1761).

John (24) married Rachel Ivy Sessums (16) (born about 1733 in Edgecombe County, NC; daughter of Nicholas Sessums and Elizabeth (Hooker) Sessums) in 1750 in Bladen Co., North Carolina. Their children were:

  • John Parker was a witness to a deed from Osborne Jeffreys to Nicholas Sessoms, dated October 2, 1744. He also witnessed a deed from John Porter to Samuel Sessoms on January 8, 1755. According to Eleanor D. McSwain, John Parker's home in Edgecombe County was "on or near Tyancocke Swamp." Tyancoke Creek was sometimes called "Cockey Swamp." The creek was a very long one finally flowing into Town Creek and emptying into the Tar River.

Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery Also known as: Parkers Meeting House Cemetery Cemetery notes and/or description: Located on Fleet Cooper Road about 6.5 miles from Hwy#24 Directions from Clinton: Hwy 24 West, Left on Fleet Cooper Road(SR1240), after apx 6.5 miles, after passing river, the cemetery will be on the right, on top of mound about 50 yards from road. There are 2 marked graves unreadable & 2 graves with funeral home markers - old & unreadable.

John Parker 1725-1806 was the leader of the Methodist Church in Sampson County, North Carolina. He was the founder of Parkers' Meeting House in 1785, now known as Andrew's Chapel Methodist Church.
