According to Francis Elizabeth Parker in her compendium dated 1971, she notes that both Joseph and William may not be children of Thomas and the data comes from the history of Meherrin written by Rev Duncan in 1929[1]. This in turn apparently comes from another history of the Baptist church written years before than. William and Joseph were not mentioned in Thomas Will yet they could have moved sufficiently far, have died before 1761 or any number of reasons.

He could be the son of James Parker, Sr (b. ca 1692-1762) referenced in a Parker family sourced history written in 1994 living in Bertie Co. in 1756 leaving a will dated Sept. 3, 1760, recorded in Bertie County, NC Court, Jan. 15, 1761[2]. The birth and death was close to that of Thomas. James refers to his son Joseph (b. ca. 1732-1803) willed land by his father in his will[3].
