Hughes County Times (Wetumka, Oklahoma) 29 Mar 1962, Thu • Page 8 J. F. Parker Dies Saturday March 24 Funeral services for John Franklin Parker were held in the Church of Christ church on Sunday March 25 at 2 pm with Arther Jones officiating assisted by Rev Russell Towry of First Christian church. Burial was in Wetumka cemetery under the direction of Spillar Funeral Home. Mr Parker who was affectionally called ‘‘Uncle Bud” was born May 8, 1872 in Flippin, Ark and died in Wetumka General hospital on Saturday March 24. He came to the Wetumka area in 1916 where he was engaged in farming until his retirement. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include four sons Nin of Wetumka Herman and Bill of Phoenix Ariz and Jewel of Wichita, Kan., two daughters Mrs Bessie Osborn of Wetumka and Mrs Edith Fisher of Farmington N. Mex., two sisters Mrs. Ida Kirkland of Wetumka and Mrs Mag McElyea of Holdenville, three brothers Wally Parker of Seminole, Elzie Parker of Cromwell and Ellis Parker of Bearden. 34 grandchildren 52 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Bearers were Joe Pace Oliver Brinlee, Derrel McElyea, Earl Shaw, Jasper Steele and Buster Shaw.
