Biography

Joseph was born in Nova Scotia 1779. He is the son of William Parker and Mary Hardaker.

Joseph's parents arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia May 9, 1774 aboard the "Two Friends" ship which had departed from Hull, Yorkshire, England. They were Quakers. The ship record had listed their reason for travel as "On account of their rents being raised. As a family of Quakers religious persecution may also have been a factor.

His first marriage was to Anne McLellan and his second to Catharine Terhune.

He passed away March 8,1862.
