Biography

Birth: George, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Parker was baptised on 8th August 1803 in St Michael's church, Mavis Enderby, Lincolnshire, England [1]

Marriage: George married Sarah Freshney at St Helena's Church, Willoughby, Lincolnshire on 1st March 1825. The groom's parish was recorded as Mavis Enderby [2]. Sarah was (b.1801, South Thoresby, Lincolnshire, England, baptised? 12 Jun 1801 in South Thoresby, Lincolnshire, England, d. 1871 in Elkhorn, Wisc).

Censuses: In 1841 George, an Agricultural Labourer was living with his wife, Sarah, sons Charles (11), Elijah (6), and Freshney (4) and daughter Deborah (2) in Mavis Enderby, Lincolnshire. All were Lincolnshire-born.[3]

In 1851 George, still an Agricultural Labourer (aged 48) and Sarah (aged 50) were living with their children Deborah (aged 12) and Joseph (aged 7) in Mavis Enderby [4]

Migration: In 1853, when he was 50 years old, they came to America, settling first in or near Rome, NY in Oneida County. In 1856 they moved to Elkhorn, WI. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for 67 years, both in England and America.

Marriage: Following the death of his first wife, George married Susan Smith on 26 Nov 1874, in Methodist Episcopal Ch, Delevan WI.[5]

Death: George Parker d. 1896 in Sugar Creek, Wisc. At his death he was 93, and had outlived all but two of his children.

Research notes

Imported biography states that George and Sarah had nine children. Five are identifiable from the 1841 and 1851 censuses. Further research needed on baptisms/burials of other children who do not appear in the censuses, or they may have been born in North America.
